Tricia Hersey, Rest is Resistance: A Manifesto, 12
Against Productivity: Rest and Radical Kinship

This project (in progress) is deeply indebted to the transformative, liberatory work of Tricia Hersey, founder of The Nap Ministry. Embedded within a multispecies framework, rest is hereby viewed as a tool of resistance against the capitalist and extractive exploitation of bodies, minds, and souls.

These images of farmed animals now living in sanctuaries celebrate collective liberation that acknowledges the central role of Black and Indigenous scholarship, histories, and revolutionary action. May these photographs aid in restoring radical kinship with more-than-human individuals who are historically viewed as units of production. May they help affirm the right of yet-to-be liberated subjectivities across species to rest.

Connect. Relate. Admire. Dream.
